A Room Built for a Better Tomorrow: voco The Hague Partners with Made Blue Foundation
We’re proud to share a new step in our sustainability journey: the Every Drop Counts room experience, a collaboration with Made Blue Foundation that connects our guests directly to clean water projects around the world.
Step by Step, Towards a Better Tomorrow
As part of the vocoâ„¢ hotels family, we believe in moving step by step towards a more sustainable future. We’re proud of the progress we’ve made so far and together with Made Blue Foundation, we’ve already helped generate over 12 million litres of clean water, the equivalent of 169 people having access to clean water for more than 10 years.
But we know there’s always more to do. That’s why, starting 1st September, we’re introducing a dedicated room designed to bring our guests closer to this mission and to give them the chance to be part of it too.
What is the Every Drop Counts Room?
Made Blue Foundation is a Dutch non-profit on a mission to give everyone access to clean drinking water. For every litre of Made Blue bottled water sold, they fund the equivalent of a litre of clean drinking water for someone who doesn’t have access to it, turning something as simple as a bottle of water into a source of real, measurable impact.
It’s a mission we’ve been part of for a while. Our refillable Made Blue water bottles have long been a small but steady part of the guest experience at voco The Hague, offering a sustainable alternative to single-use plastic while supporting Made Blue‘s work behind the scenes. This year, we decided to take that collaboration a step further, with a room designed entirely around it.
For every night booked in the Every Drops Counts Room, voco The Hague donates 10,000 litres of clean drinking water, and you get to choose where that water goes, to one of the following projects:
- Bangladesh: In Bangladesh, mini water networks will provide 33,670 people with direct access to clean drinking water whilst building a social enterprise
- Sierra Leone: With 7 water kiosks and the provision of milk powder for school meals, we help more than 55,000 people to a better future.
- Uganda: In this project in Uganda, we place a great emphasis on capacity building and sustainability, with a central role for entrepreneurs, women and girls.
- Malawi: In Malawi, more than 7 million people lack clean water. We are going to change this by building and repairing water points.
Guests can select their preferred project during their stay. The room includes photos and text explaining each project, a refillable water bottle, and a personalised impact report and, most importantly, every night booked means a €5 donation to the project you choose and your contribution to a better future.
Why It Matters
Clean water is something many of us take for granted. For millions of people, it’s still out of reach. Through this partnership, we want to give our guests a simple, tangible way to make a difference. We believe that small, consistent actions add up to something meaningful.
This is one of many steps we’re taking to continuously build a more sustainable future at voco The Hague. From water-saving fixtures to responsible sourcing, we keep looking for ways to do things a little better, one action at a time. The ”Every Drops Counts” isn’t a one-off initiative, it’s part of an ongoing commitment we plan to keep building on, together with our guests.
